Congratulations
to our new Liberal candidate
Our
Liberal nomination meeting was held on Sunday, September 7th
at 2PM at the Civic Center in Cornwall.
By
the wish of the membership, we selected by majority vote Mr Denis Sabourin to be our candidate
for this federal election 2008. We congratulate Denis
on his campaign and his pitch to the membership. The riding
association rallies behind him and commits to winning
Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry in the election, for sake of
our community and the country.
In his
acceptance speech, Denis summed up
the mission that lies ahead: With team work, we will
win SDSG for the Liberal Party. We are counting on everyone.
The riding
association also expresses sincere appreciation and thanks
to
PJ Robertson, Denis Sabourin,
and Gerald Edward Samson for
coming forward and committing themselves to the Liberal
cause.
The
campaign office is opening soon at 141 Montreal Road in
Cornwall. Please pay us a visit to express your support,
donate to the campaign, and volunteer some valuable time to
bring the Liberal message to the citizens of SDSG.
SDSG federal liberals provide two policy proposals for the
region.
At the
eastern Ontario federal policy rally in Perth on June 28th
2008, the SDSG federal policy committee provided these two
policy resolutions. They were unanimously adopted by the
delegates from the ridings in eastern Ontario. We look
forward to seeing them included in the priority resolutions
at the Ontario policy meeting scheduled this fall 2008.

Climate Change Denier
February 2, 2007
The Liberal Opposition today released another salvo in what
Prime Minister Harper called the “Battle of Kyoto,” which
saw the then-leader of the Canadian Alliance launch a
fundraising campaign against the science of climate change.
Attached is a copy of a speech
Mr. Harper delivered to Conservatives on November 20, 2002,
denouncing the Kyoto Accord.

The idea of establishing a
community wide carbon reduction plan for Cornwall has the
endorsement of Liberal leader Stephane
Dion.
Dion encouraged Cornwallites
Wednesday to get behind a proposal from a group of local
environmental stakeholders to set up a city wide program
aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions, which is
considered a key contributor to global warming.
